Wellness Within
Wellness Within is a multi-part series guided by the McLeod River PCN Kinesiologist and Psychologist exploring factors for physiological and mental wellbeing during pregnancy and beyond. This course is open to all McLeod River PCN pregnant patients and a support person of their choice, however registration is required. Please Note: This is not a therapy group, but it does provide general mental health skills for dealing with stress and anxiety that often accompany the pre and postnatal period.
- 4-week series, 40-minute sessions, offered in-person. Adults (18+). Virtual option TBA.
Topics include:- Physiological changes affecting mental health in pregnancy and postpartum
- Relationships and brain rewiring
- Self Care including a self-regulation ‘menu’
- Benefits of physical activity and action planning
- Registrants also have the option to receive a 1:1 check-in postpartum with the McLeod River PCN Psychologist (Telehealth appointment)
- Following each session, registrants will be emailed resources that align with the topic presented
You can self-refer by calling 780-723-2131 (Edson) or 780-779-0079 (Whitecourt) or obtain a referral from your McLeod River PCN obstetrics health care provider (doctor or nurse).
When you self-refer, consider inviting a support person to join you (spouse/friend/family member)
If you are already seeing an McLeod River PCN Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or Kinesiologist you can ask them about a referral.
We understand that this is a busy time in your life but please do let us know if you will not be able to attend any of the sessions. By making this workshop a priority, you are setting yourself up for success and gaining valuable skills that will support you through this big life change.
